Who is LeFT?

this page is a work in progress, and does not originally belong to me at all!

in quotes; "Formed in February of 1998, LeFT consists of Matt Dalton (vocals and guitar), Dan Schlicker (guitar), Ryan Fleming (bass and vocals) and Dustin Malicoat (drums). Their unique style of hardcore has tightly gripped fans all over the world. Blending diminished, dischordant elements with full-force hardcore and passion soaked melody, LeFT balances emotion and ferocity in perfect harmony. With the independent release of "We Deliver For You" in 1999, LeFT immediately gained a devoted following and the interest of many labels. In February of 2000, LeFT inked a deal with Medea Records. As they built a strong following with their live shows and first release, LeFT wasted no time and kept the buzz alive with the release of "My Disease" in February of 2001. Featured on such sites as ThePRP.com, DynamicRock.com, and TheUBN.com, LeFT has turned many heads on the internet. Thier Medea Records debut "My Diease" has recieved great reviews, and passionate response from fans." this came from the original site.

here's LeFT in my own words...

THE LINEUP CONSISTS OF:

they a nu-metal band formed in 1998, starting to record demos of their songs in just a bedroom. just a year later, they had recorded "We Deliver For You" (in short, WDFY) in 1999, recorded in 37 Studios/Metro 37 Recording Studio (see 37 Productions also), also owned by Matt, originally in his basement. 37 studios was later then renamed to Rock Hill Sound.

WE DELIVER FOR YOU

one question a few fans and/or new listener may have about this album is; "why does it sound terrible?"... once again, knowing Matt had owned the whole studio, and was also especially just in his basement, this could pretty much explain half of it. he did not have the correct equipment, and he did not know how to actually mix anything untill the early 00's.

Matt told me: "The wdfy album was recorded at various stages of my early recording career, i had very limited equipment and not a lot of knowledge of how to do it right. It sounds terrible essentially because i had no idea was i was doing"

although, this may just completely kill off the whole thing, LeFT had very great and creative writing skills. their songs were often about deep topics, or random ones at that. take "Got it Wrong" for example. the whole song is written from the "pot leaf's point of view", not wanting to be smoked as it feels pain from being burnt. yeah, that's the whole thing.

MY DISEASE

they had then continued to play live, etc, until 2002, when "My Disease" was recorded, featuring much better sound quality and recording than before. clearly, Matt's skills have improved, and LeFT has gained a larger following. however, at some point, LeFT had basically come to an end in 2003. no news after 2002, and a year later, the site was taken down, and they went on a hiatus.

the first message from Matt that I had recieved was: "Hi, thanks for the message and listening to our music :) nothing really happened, long story short we just sort of stopped doing the band because other things in life took over priority"

i mean, hey Matt, do what you gotta do...but you actually just left (haha get it) LeFT for yer nEw BaNd CaLlEd "Arizing". just kidding, Arizing's great, check em out. might do a page on them soon.

basically, LeFT just took a 2 year hiatus, stopped playing until 2004 in one random gig, then kinda just left (haha get it) us.

where's the My Disease statue located?

this was a question me and my mom had! i was about to ask Matt about it too, but then i actually saw a youtube comment which literally had the exact location; Maypole Fountain, Frankemmuth, Michigan. i was literally so happy finding this! now my mom wont be asking why the fuck the guy on the cover looks like that. and yes, i know i already said development was paused, but i just wanted to share this since i probably wouldve forgotten about it. plus, i had nothing else to write about when i said that.

unfortunately, the Maypole Fountain can't be found on google maps or earth, so you'll probably just have to go find it for yourself in Frankenmuth.

here's some of the last remaining recordings of LeFT playing live...
